I wanted to know what is was I awhile back and I found this...

http://www.emo-corner.com/what-is-emo/

I say just read the first guy, not the viewer voice or second opinion thing, I just didn't find them that much interesting. Unless you meant the music genre, thats different.

I'm glad you read into it.

Just because one is emo, it does not mean that they cut themselves and it most certainly doesn't mean they're suicidal. There are people who consider themselves 'emo' that are suicidal just like there are non emo people who are suicidal.

I am very emotional, if you couldn't tell and I do listen to bands that have been called Emo, Punk and Goth. Does that make me emo? Not really. I want to wear black skinny jeans, I like to push my hair to one side and have it very dark - it's not me trying to really fit in with the sub culture either, it's just inside me to want to dress that way. No, I don't want to wear make up. Neutral Am I emo? Probably. Are people who dress 'emo' emo? Not neccessarily. The emotions aren't created by listening to the music or by wanting to be apart of the sub culture - they come from inside of you.

EMO? EH? what exactly is emo really people label others all the time even before they know the person. The thing i hate is when ppl do that. i believe before labeling others u should get to know them first. i get called "preppy" all the time cause of the way i dress but really me preppy Ha i dont think so i dress colorful not "skanky" nor preppy i'm far from that. Then theres the whole music thing "Emo" "punk" ect just cause you listen to different music doesnt mean ur any of those pathetic little labels Anyways....Labels are lame get to know the person before u judge them =]

I did re-read it over and over. Punk is a label in a way.

Label that I am proud of.

You can label yourself, but other people have no right to label you without knowing you. That's what DesireAngel is saying.

PostSubject: Re: Emo   Wed May 13, 2009 2:10 am

Well, there are a lot of people who wear black all the time and they're definitely not emo.

Emo is short for emotional and I definitely am emotional. Though emo the sub culture has been given a stereotype and that's where the problem is. So many people put themselves into the emo sub-culture, but all they have is a haircut and a pair of black skinny jeans.

I am so emotional and so many small things go straight to my heart. You would have to see it to believe it and if you know my girlfriend, she'll tell you just how emotional I am. Is it bad? Not really, but sometimes it can slow you down for a little while rather than you just getting on with things, but I do recover well. Like I soaked my water proof jacket when I found out my Dad hung himself, but I was quick in reasoning and understanding. I took it and made a positive out of it. A lot of these kids who call themselves emos, they don't look for a positive in things and that's actually something Goths are well known for.
