PostSubject: Learning to be cool.   Sun May 03, 2009 10:58 pm

All right, kids, here's some lessons on being cool.

You all want to be cool, but who says who is cool and who isn't? I'll tell you who, I fucken do. Right? NO, wrong. You don't take shit, you don't take disrespect, you don't let people look down on you NOR do you look down on other people. Yes, recognize their faults, but DO NOT look down on them because they are a soul! Remember that.

You got something to say? Think about what you're saying, think of what could happen if you say the right or wrong thing. Don't just speak, you can get yourself in a situation you don't want to be in. Read over what you say and remember you do have time on your side. You don't got to rush in for anything, anybody - they say fools rush in. Are you a fool? Just be cool.

Nobody likes a show off, but people respect a good ego. A good, healthy ego belongs to a person who knows what they can do, but they don't talk down others, they're not intimidated by others, they're smart, they're cool. Remember everybody has an ego and ego is important. You decide what you feed your own ego or feed other people. Remember, what you say can damage other people's egos. Don't fuck with people or you'll be fucked with. The cool person keeps cool, they don't get hot headed.

There's your first lesson.

Being cool is great! You gain fake friends and lose real friends by acting like a pompous, ass-faced dickhead!

I'm sorry, Bolton. This is about being a cool, level headed person more or less. Not somebody in sunglasses and a nice jacket.

A person with a healthy ego will treat people as their equal. They share with them what they have and they praise them for the good things that they do.

Remember that!

Good post Beau.

I think you'd need to add the following too: a cool person is not easily influenced by others. A cool person is going to know what he/she likes.

It's for everybody.

Well, that doesn't have anything to do with being cool and being not cool. People do choose to like things or try things because they want to fit in with others and that is the point you want to make. It doesn't mean they're not cool.

Say I was to say to you

"Slipknot are terrible, Sophie. They're so not cool; listen to this band instead."

If you went with what I said, that would show me low self esteem. A cool way to respond would be to say

"I like Slipknot, but I will give the band you suggested a try."

A try means you will listen, you may not like it and you don't have to like it to be cool!

I'm "cool" in my school. I hang with the "populars" but they really arent my friends. They just call me and I say, why not? My real friends are on the outside. They dont get girls, they dont go out much, but they are nice people. And thats what I want in a friend, not someonewho's all about the "ins". And the reason why I'm "cool" is because of me being on the basketball team. Before that I was a "nerd". It just shows that people judge people without knowing anything about them and thats wrong. I dont judge people by how they look or how "cool" they are.

Sure, I know what you're saying. Well you would know that the in crowd aren't cool - they just think they are.

I agree Beau. The in-crowd are bad kids in my school. They smoke, they drink and they try to get others to smoke and drink. They get in trouble, they get detention and a lot of times suspension. They think they're all that but they really arent going to go anywhere unless they get an attitude adjustment. I havent given into the smoking and drinking and I'm proud of myself for not.

In my mind the cool kids are the kids who are good friends and good people.

I did drink at an early age, but that stopped. I did get in trouble, I did get detentions sometimes. People look at those things as being cool things, but they certainly didn't make me cool.

I know this is off topic and all but I saw CMHL talking about his good friends and not so good friends. Just a quick thing on that.

You really do find who your 'real friends' are when you make a dramatic change. For example, I have been the class clown throughout all my High school life until this semester. This is my last year and which is why im actually studying and focusing on school work. Due to this I am currently coming first in Class in 4 of my 8 subjects. I am not considered a nerd but I am not as 'Cool' as I was say last year. I still hang out with the same group, Still do the same shit etc. but the guys that I never considered 'close friends' who I didn't hang around but may talk to in class I do not even socialize with in class anymore because I am not as 'Cool' or whatever.
